Description
Every month the League of Women Voters of Cortland County sponsors a dinner and discussion event related to issues that impact Cortland County. This month we will discuss how to improve communications with elected officials and how improved communications will benefit everyone. Everyone is invited to attend. Liz Arnold, Homer Village Trustee and Maxwell School Professor, will cover the “how to”, “why”, and “when”. And, of course, she’ll offer specific ways you can communicate more effectively with all elected officials from the dog catcher to your member of Congress. There will also be plenty of time for discussion!
Liz is the Cramer Family Foundation Professor of Practice in Community Impact at Maxwell School, Syracuse University. Her expertise lies with community-based civic engagement skills and she teaches courses in leadership development and problem-solving. Her career includes being director of leadership engagement and impact at the Truman National Security Project and while working at Google, she led national outreach strategies and helped launch diversity initiatives. Her resume also includes Johnson School of Management, Cornell University, MIT’s School of Engineering, and Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership!
We are thrilled that she will be leading this valuable discussion on Monday, December 1st, at the CNY Living History Center. In honor of the holiday season, we will combine this event with our holiday dinner. M&D Deli will provide our holiday dinner.
The League of Women Voters of Cortland County is a nonpartisan activist organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. We believe in empowering voters through education.
